Healing Adoption Traumas Using the 3 Stage Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment Model Training
This comprehensive Healing Adoption Trauma Training explores how trauma-informed therapy approaches can help adoption triad members heal from complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD). The adoption trauma training begins with a discussion of how adoption triad members struggle in their healing journey, as adoption traumas are rarely recognized as traumatic events that could cause complex post-traumatic stress disorder. It interweaves information on relinquishment and adoption trauma experiences, highlighting how these experiences contribute to C-PTSD trauma symptoms. A comparison of trauma-informed therapy versus traditional talk therapy is also reviewed. Psychoeducation on how trauma changes the brain and body, trauma survivors having a small window of tolerance, and stress management techniques are presented as the starting point for trauma-informed psychotherapy. The evidence-based three stages of complex post-traumatic stress disorder treatment model are presented in detail as a framework to help trauma survivors and psychotherapists understand the importance of each stage of trauma-informed psychotherapy. Psychotherapy interventions on trauma desensitization and reprocessing are also included as part of understanding trauma-informed therapy techniques.
Healing adoption trauma training and learning objectives are adjusted for presentations for professional development for mental health professionals, adoption conferences, and support groups.
